1. Who is responsible for your information?

Dean Quartermaine Accountancy Tuition is responsible for the personal information described in this notice, for this website and for ExamReady at examready.deanquartermaineaccountancytuition.co.uk. Questions or requests can be sent to hello@deanquartermaineaccountancytuition.co.uk.

2. Information we collect

If you join the mailing list: your name, email address, the updates you choose and the AAT units you are interested in.

If you create an ExamReady account:

  • your name, email address and password (stored only in a scrambled form that cannot be read back);
  • where you heard about ExamReady, if you tell us, and any early access code you used;
  • who invited you, if you signed up with a friend’s invite link;
  • your answers, scores, mock exam results and which questions you skipped, so we can show your progress;
  • question reports you send us, including your comments;
  • the units on your account and how you got them, and your orders: what you bought, the price, any discount and Stripe’s payment references;
  • whether you asked for ExamReady tips and offers by email, and when; and
  • security information, such as when you last signed in and failed sign-in attempts.

Stripe handles your card details when you pay. We never see or store your full card number.

3. How we use your information and our lawful bases

  • To run your ExamReady account, mark your answers, track your progress, unlock the units you have bought and send password reset emails, because this is needed to provide the service you signed up for (contract).
  • To take payments and keep accounting and tax records (contract and legal obligation).
  • To keep accounts secure, prevent misuse and unauthorised sharing, fix reported question errors and understand how people hear about ExamReady (legitimate interests in running and protecting the service).
  • To run the invite-a-friend scheme, including showing your first name to friends who use your invite link (contract).
  • To send mailing-list emails, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
  • To send ExamReady tips and offers by email, only if you ask for them when you sign up or on your account page (consent). You can stop them at any time from your account page or by unsubscribing. To send them, we give Mailchimp your email address, your free unit, whether you have started practising it and whether you have unlocked everything, so the emails match where you are.
  • To reply to your messages (legitimate interests).

4. AI marking of written answers

Some ExamReady questions ask for a short written answer. These answers are sent to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI model, to be marked against set marking points. We send only the text of your answer with the question’s marking points and model answer, never your name, email address or other account details. Please do not include personal information in written answers.

5. Who receives your information?

We share information only where it is needed, with:

  • Stripe, which takes ExamReady payments;
  • Anthropic, which marks some written answers (see section 4);
  • Mailchimp, which manages the mailing list;
  • Cloudflare, which provides website analytics for this website;
  • Microsoft, whose Microsoft 365 service sends ExamReady emails such as password resets and order confirmations;
  • our website hosting provider;
  • professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it.

Each provider has its own privacy information, and some act as independent controllers of the information they handle, such as Stripe for payments.

6. International transfers

Stripe, Anthropic, Microsoft, Mailchimp and Cloudflare may process information outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised by UK data protection law, such as the UK–US data bridge or standard contractual clauses.

7. How long we keep information

  • ExamReady account information, answers and results are kept until you delete your account. You can do this at any time from your account page, and it permanently deletes your account, answers, results and everything else on it, except your order records.
  • Order records (what was bought, the price, any discount, the date and Stripe’s payment references) are kept for our accounts even if you delete your account, but they are no longer linked to an ExamReady account. We keep them, and Stripe keeps its own payment records, for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting purposes, usually six years.
  • Password reset links expire and cannot be used again.
  • Mailing-list information is kept until you unsubscribe.
  • If you stop ExamReady tips and offers or delete your ExamReady account, your ExamReady details are removed from Mailchimp within about 10 minutes. If you joined the mailing list separately, you stay on it until you unsubscribe.
  • Messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with your query and any follow-up.

8. Your rights

You have rights to access, correct and delete your information, restrict or object to how it is used, receive it in a portable format and withdraw consent. These rights can be subject to legal limits.

To exercise a right, email hello@deanquartermaineaccountancytuition.co.uk. You can also delete your ExamReady account yourself at any time. You may raise concerns with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

9. Cookies and website storage

This website does not set cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how the website is used, such as which pages and revision resources are visited most. It does not set cookies or store anything on your device, and it is not used to identify you or follow you across other websites. It records information such as the page you visited, the website that referred you, your browser and device type, your approximate country and how quickly the page loaded.

ExamReady uses one cookie, which keeps you signed in and protects forms from misuse. It is strictly necessary for the service to work, so it does not need your consent, and it is deleted when you close your browser. ExamReady does not use analytics or advertising cookies.

Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page to process payments securely and prevent fraud.

If advertising, embedded media or other non-essential technologies are added in future, this notice will be updated and any consent that is needed will be requested before those tools are used.

10. Security

We use reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, scrambled passwords and limits on repeated sign-in attempts. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please contact us promptly if you believe your information has been misused.

11. Changes to this notice

We may update this privacy notice as our services and providers change. The latest version will be published on this page with its update date.
